How Do You Screenshot on an HP Envy Windows 10 Laptop?
Here are several ways to screenshot an entire screen or app on an HP Envy laptop.
Method 1: Use the Print Screen Button
The Print Screen key is a physical key on Windows keyboards used to take screenshots. On HP laptops and computers, the Print Screen key is represented by Prn Scr. Other Windows keyboards may use PrtScn while older models may actually use the full phrase, Print Screen. There are a couple of keyboard shortcuts involving the Print Screen key. Here’s what they do.
Prn Scr: Pressing the Print Screen key by itself will take a screenshot of the entire screen and save it to Windows’ clipboard. Prn Scr + Alt: Takes a screenshot of the app being used and saves it to the clipboard. Prn Scr + Windows: This takes a screenshot of the whole display and saves it as a PNG file. Prn Scr + Windows + Alt: This shortcut takes a screenshot of only the current app in use and saves it as a PNG.
Method 2: Use the Windows Snipping Tool
Pressing Windows + Shift + S will open the Windows operating system’s built-in Snipping tool. Once activated, you should see a small menu bar at the top of the screen with four screenshot option.
Rectangular Snip: Choose this to select a part of your screen to screenshot within a rectangular selection tool.Freeform Snip: Lets you select any shape you want for screenshotting.Windows Snip: This option will take a screenshot of an open browser or app window.Fullscreen Snip: This takes a screenshot of everything visible on your HP Envy’s screen.
Once your screenshot is taken with the Snipping tool, it’ll be saved to the clipboard and will remain available there to be pasted into another app until other text or image content is copied. You will also receive a system notification. Clicking on this notification will open the Windows Snip & Sketch app. You can dismiss this notification if you want.
Method 3: Use Snip & Sketch
Snip & Sketch is a free app pre-installed on Windows devices. Opening it will take a screenshot of the entire screen, which can then be cropped, annotated, and saved. To open Snip & Sketch, click Windows Ink Workspace from the taskbar and select Fullscreen snip. You’ll see your full-screen screenshot.
Method 4: Use a Screenshot App
In addition to the above HP Envy screenshot options, you can also use a dedicated screenshot app. One such easy-to-use app is the Xbox Game Bar tool, which comes pre-installed with Windows. More advanced users may want to try something like OBS Studio. Both of these apps can also be used to record video of your HP Envy desktop.
Where Is the Print Screen Key on HP Envy x360?
The location of the Print Screen button, usually represented as either Prn Scr or PrtScn, can vary depending on the model of the Windows keyboard being used. Despite this, the key is almost always placed somewhere on the top row of keys, usually just to the right of the center. Some keyboards, such as those used with the HP Envy x360 line of devices, don’t have a designated Print Screen key and instead add its functionality as a second feature of another key. On an HP Envy x360 keyboard, the Prn Scr function has been added to the Shift key on the right side of the keyboard. To activate the Print Screen functionality and save a screenshot to your device’s clipboard, press Shift + Fn at the same time. To activate the more advanced Snipping screenshot options, press Windows + Shift + Fn.
Where Do Screenshots Go on an HP Laptop?
Pressing the Print Screen (Prn Scr) key on its own will take a screenshot and save it to your HP laptop’s clipboard. This means the image hasn’t been saved as a file but it can be pasted into other documents if you press Ctrl + V or select an app’s Paste option. For example, you can paste a screenshot into a Photoshop file or a Microsoft Word document. When you press Windows + Prn Scr, a screenshot is taken and saved as an image file in This PC > Pictures > Screenshots. Saving a screenshot from the Windows Snip & Sketch app will give you the choice of saving the file wherever you like. The default location is This PC > Documents, so if you can’t remember where you decided to save your screenshot image, it may be there.
